Elisha is Back: Never Stop Improving Yourself

I'm Back

Hello readers, I’m back again after a month of break from blogging and I would like to share with you some of the experiences that I have learned during my days off.

The reason of the short break

I went back to my hometown Lawas for a holiday trip. Since I’m travelling, the best option to connect into the digital world is via mobile broadband connection. I used Celcom Broadband. Though connectivity and speed was ridiculously poor, it is acceptable due to the fact that I was in a rural town.

But one thing that had broke my heart, there were millions of websites in the internet but the only websites that I couldn’t access were both of my blog accounts.

Scratching my head and went speechless, I was wondering what went wrong. So I contacted the webhosting provider regarding the issue but they couldn’t find any technical problem from their side. I was informed that the problem was actually from the internet service provider. There’s no reason why my blog was blocked or banned because I have no problem accessing porn websites.

Since I was unable to resolve the issue so I have decided to take a short break from blogging. But I wasn’t completely off from blogging. I took this opportunity to spend my time planning on my future posts.

Gained new experiences

Besides drafting new blog posts, I have also learned how to use Adobe Premier Pro. It’s an awesome video editing software. All these while I have been using Windows Live Movie Maker to edit my videos. It’s very simple use and easy to master but it has too little options that you can’t do much with it.

So I challenged myself to learned a much advanced and more sophisticated software. Everything was self-learned and I learned through trial and error method. It took me hours just to figure out the basic applications. Though I’m aware that there were countless of video tutorials available in YouTube but since the internet connection was really poor, I will waste my precious time waiting for the video. I afraid that I might as well get distracted while waiting and end up doing other things.

Eventually, my hard work pays off. Though it was just a simple video but I believe there is always room for improvement. I’ve edited 5 videos and I’ll post them up in my next post.

Another reason of my trip back to Lawas was to manage the printing and stationery shop owned by my family. Being studying business course in the University, I’ve learned about management, accounting, bookkeeping, and marketing. I have the opportunity to practice what I have learned in class. Eventually, deepen my knowledge and improve specific skills.

I never think working in family’s shop was a chore because what I seek is the experiences that I could gain from it. What I feel is that, working during semester break is much more rewarding other than staying at home playing games and watching movies. Other than the pay that you’ll received, you’re actually building up your Curriculum Vitae or résumé. You’ll might have a greater advantage for getting a job right out of college.

One thing I would like to share here is that never stop improving yourself.

Theme Design

Right now I’m using Headway Themes, probably the best DIY custom design theme in the market. To tell you the truth, it was really a headache to choose the perfect blog theme. I’ve tried other themes but none is as cool as a DIY custom design theme because you’ll have the ultimate control over your own blog design.

There’s another DIY custom design theme which is very popular in the market too. I’m using Thesis Themes in Blog Tau. After experiencing both, in my upmost honest opinion, I would recommend you Headway Themes because it has visual editor option. It makes designing your blog much more easier.

For your information, these awesome themes comes at a premium.

Blog Transition Progress

This blog is still under the process of transitioning phase. What I have accomplished so far was transferring all the Intense Debate comments and theme selection.

Since there’s no Intense Debate comment importer plugin available, I have to do everything manually. Disappointed at their poor service, I decided to use Disqus Comment System in this blog.

What Next?

I hope you can take some value out of my experiences and apply it into your own life. Sometimes, the best way to improve your life is by learning about other people’s experiences.

Believe me, it works like magic.

Feel free to share your comments below and add more VALUE into this post.

Keep Rocking Guys!

Hey Ivy, thank you for the compliment. That’s very true. So far, I only heard one complaint about DiGi broadband. The user was an Australian, I believe they have much better broadband service there, so she might be a little bit disappointed at what we have here. My other friends, including you, were satisfied with its service.nnBy the way, I was using my dad’s Celcom broadband. I only use it when I go back Lawas. I’m not much a traveler like him. But yeah, thumbs up to DiGi Broadband.
